Mechanical & Plumbing Engineering

HVAC, plumbing and fire sprinkler design for new buildings and renovations in Miami, with signed and sealed drawings by Florida-licensed engineers.

When you need a mechanical engineer

  • You're building or renovating and need mechanical, plumbing or fire sprinkler plans for permit.
  • Your air conditioning can't keep up, or you're replacing old equipment and want it sized correctly.
  • You're changing how a space is used, such as an office into a restaurant, and the ventilation, plumbing or sprinklers must change too.
  • The building department needs Florida energy code calculations for your project.

What we do

HVAC design

Air conditioning, heating, ventilation and exhaust systems, sized for Miami's heat and humidity.

Plumbing design

Water supply, sanitary, storm drainage and gas piping systems.

Fire sprinklers

Fire protection and sprinkler system design to meet fire code.

Energy calculations

Florida Energy Code compliance calculations and forms required for permit.

Coordinated with structure and electrical

Rooftop units need structural support, and every air conditioner needs electrical power. Because we also do structural and electrical engineering, the mechanical design is coordinated with both from the start.

Common questions

Why does it matter that the air conditioning is sized correctly?

In Miami, an oversized system cools the air quickly but doesn't run long enough to remove humidity, which can lead to a clammy space and mold. An undersized one can't keep up on hot days. A load calculation sizes the system for the building, not a rule of thumb.

Do I need new plans if I change how a space is used?

Usually yes. A new use, like a restaurant in a former office, changes ventilation, exhaust, plumbing fixtures and sometimes sprinklers. The building department will need updated, signed and sealed drawings.
